Associate Pastor of Worship and Families
General Description of the Position
Assist the Senior Pastor of Spring Creek Baptist Church in leading the church to function as a New Testament church, with the specific responsibility to lead the church’s Worship, Youth, and Family Ministries. He is directly supervised by the Senior Pastor. This is a full-time position. Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and Lifeway/GuideStone Compensation Study data.
Worship Ministry (20%)
- Work with the Senior Pastor to plan corporate worship services
- Recruit and develop vocalists and musicians as needed for worship services
- Oversee the Audio-Visual Ministry
- Plan and submit budget and calendar proposals for Worship Ministries
Family Ministry (70%)
- Develop, execute, and oversee the Family Ministry of SCBC
- Develop, execute, and oversee the Youth Ministry of SCBC (grades 6–12), including leading a Wednesday night or Sunday night teaching and worship time for youth and overseeing Sunday morning youth discipleship
- Plan and submit budget and calendar proposals for Family and Youth Ministries
General Pastoral (10%)
- Assist the Senior Pastor as needed with churchwide functions and pastoral responsibilities
- Fill the pulpit as needed and scheduled
- Provide leadership in the absence of the Senior Pastor
Qualifications
- Growing Christian who meets the biblical qualifications for pastoral ministry as explained in the Pastoral Epistles
- Ministry Preparation: A Master of Divinity is preferred, but other education will be considered
- Formal musical training and/or experience leading worship
- Student ministry experience preferred
- Agreement with The Baptist Faith and Message 2000
Job Summary:
The Associate Pastor of Worship and Families is responsible for leading SCBC’s Worship, Youth, and Family Ministries. This role involves working closely with the Senior Pastor, church staff, volunteers, and the congregation to cultivate a spiritually enriching environment for families, youth, and corporate musical worship. The ideal candidate will have a passion for worship, a heart for Family Ministry, and the ability to engage with and minister to 6th–12th graders. The Associate Pastor of Worship and Families reports to the Senior Pastor and may be assigned other duties and responsibilities beyond those listed below when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Worship Leadership
- Plan and lead Sunday morning worship services in collaboration with the Senior Pastor and Worship Team
- Coordinate with musicians, vocalists, and technical staff to ensure a cohesive and God-honoring worship experience
- Preach as needed
- Develop and implement worship-related events or special services (e.g., holiday services, family worship nights, etc.)
- Plan and submit budget and calendar proposals for Worship Ministries
- Family Ministry
- Develop and implement programs and resources that support and strengthen families within the church
- Organize family-oriented events, workshops, and activities that promote spiritual growth and family unity
- Provide pastoral care and support to families facing challenges and refer them to additional resources as needed
- Work closely with Children’s Ministry leaders to ensure a smooth transition from Children’s Ministry to Youth Ministry
- Foster relationships with local schools, community organizations, and other churches to extend the reach of SCBC’s Family Ministry
- Encourage and facilitate youth and family involvement in community service and outreach initiatives
- Plan and submit budget and calendar proposals for the Family Ministry
- Youth Ministry
- Oversee all aspects of the church’s youth ministry, including planning and leading weekly youth group meetings, retreats, and mission trips
- Disciple and mentor youth, helping them grow in their faith and develop as Christian leaders
- Recruit, train, and support volunteers to assist with youth ministry activities
- Engage with parents and guardians to ensure alignment between Youth Ministry and family discipleship goals
- Plan and submit budget and calendar proposals for the Youth Ministry
- Administrative Duties
- Manage the budget and resources for youth and family ministries
- Collaborate with church staff and leadership to ensure the integration of family ministry with the overall mission and vision of the church
- Maintain regular communication with the congregation about family ministry events, programs, and needs
Qualifications:
- A deep and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ
- Must meet the biblical qualifications for pastoral ministry enumerated in the Pastoral Epistles
- A calling to pastoral ministry, particularly in the areas of worship, youth, and family ministry
- A Master of Divinity degree is preferred, but other forms of education and experience may be considered
- Previous experience in worship leadership and family or youth ministry preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with church staff, volunteers, and the congregation
- A heart for mentoring and discipling young people and strengthening families to the glory of God
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position with a flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of worship services, ministry events, and pastoral care responsibilities
